In the Children's Program at Aikido of Red Bank, your child will learn to roll and fall safely, breathe more effectively, relax, respond appropriately to a bully, and generally to feel better about themselves and others. The classes are conducted in a safe, friendly atmosphere that allows each child to develop at his or her own rate of progress.
Chief Instructor James Soviero, a fourth-degree black belt (yondan) and a certified instructor (Shidoin) of the United States Aikido Federation, began teaching Aikido to children in 1991 in Red Bank at the Aikido Schools of New Jersey satellite location under Rick Stickles Sensei. James taught children's classes for two years as a live-in apprentice at the Aikido Schools of New Jersey headquarters. He also taught Aikido at the Ironbound Afterschool Program in Newark. A Red Bank native, James opened Aikido of Red Bank in April of 2002.
The Children's Program is open to ages 5-12. Classes are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5:00-5:45 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-9:45 a.m.
